“We are all ignorant. We are just ignorant about different things”

(Will Rogers)

Time is the greatest asset. Harvest your energy into working out what are the things you do that make you happy and then do them. East Croydon Station. Appreciate the beauty of the natural world and marvel at the miracle of the life upon it. Always know where your towel is. He who fails to plan is planning to fail. Today's mighty oak is just yesterday's nut, that held its ground. Bonnet le douche. Endeavour to gain a balanced view. Sorbus Aria ‘Lutescens’. 101010. The more I learn about people, the more I like my dog. Only connect the prose and the passion. Hoy es el día. Just left of cynical. In vino veritas. We are not makers of history, we are made by history.

My hope is that by sharing my experiences on some of the things that I become slightly less ignorant about from the benefit of our travels, I will give you some small insight into another part of our planet and, at the same time perhaps, provide some mild entertainment along the way.

Described well by a very good friend as ‘banter from the back of the bus’, my content style is fairly direct and some might observe a little bit Karl Pilkington at times. Those that have read my previous blogs will know; I say what I see (without the annoying ‘BEEEEEEEING’ sound) and I do enjoy poking a bit of cynical fun. It’s much easier to write about the stuff going wrong, the cultural and culinary experiences as well as some of the weird and wonderful people that you meet than thinking up a lexicon of eulogies that always seem to fall short of describing well the beautiful landscapes and stunning wildlife. The hope is that the photographs that I post will cover that aspect in a much more eloquent way.

Just as with any article on the BBC, the information within this blog will be a medley of facts, hyperbole, random quotes, half-truths, hearsay, partial opinion and, of course, a bit of just good old fashioned made up bollocks that sounds good! And just like the BBC you won’t always be able to decipher what’s what but please be assured that it is not my intention to offend anyone nor indeed to deny an alternate view.

So with all of this in mind please turn all personal trigger warning filters off, slip on your virtual snow boots and vicariously enjoy the story of our two month trip to South America!
